KCA University on Friday marked its 19th Graduation Ceremony, sending off 3,286 graduates into a world that now demands sharper minds, sturdier backbones and a flair for innovation.

Held under the theme ‘Innovate, Elevate, Impact,’ the ceremony doubled as both a celebration of academic grit and a reminder that Kenya’s job market is not for the faint-hearted.

VC and CEO Prof. Isaiah I.C. Wakindiki set the tone early, insisting the institution has aligned itself with the country’s shifting workforce dynamics.

“This year’s graduates embody the spirit of innovation and resilience. As they step into the world, they carry with them the skills, values, and mindset to elevate industries and impact communities. At KCAU, we remain committed to nurturing graduates who not only adapt to change but also lead it,” he said, in a message that landed somewhere between encouragement and gentle marching orders.

The ceremony also reflected the university’s increasingly international profile, with students from East, West and Southern Africa adding colour to the day’s proceedings.

Their presence, KCAU officials said, speaks to the institution’s growing global appeal and a multicultural environment that mirrors the modern workplace.

The graduates were drawn from four main academic units, with the School of Business producing the largest cohort, followed by the Professional & Technical Training Institute, the School of Technology and the School of Education, Arts & Social Sciences.

University Council Chairperson Sitoyo Lopokoiyit used his moment on the podium to underscore the Council’s role in keeping the institution firmly on course.

“The University Council remains steadfast in providing strategic oversight to ensure that KCAU continues to deliver quality, relevant and impactful education. We are satisfied that the graduates presented today reflect the mission and vision of this institution. Earlier this year, the Council approved the 2024–2028 Strategic Plan, positioning KCAU for enhanced innovation, strengthened partnerships and sustained academic excellence,” he said.

Chancellor FCPA Dr. Martin Oduor Otieno, CBS, wrapped up the speeches with a challenge to the graduates: “Innovation begins with a curious mind and a willingness to solve real problems. As you elevate professionally, remember to uplift others and make a meaningful impact wherever you go. Kenya and the world need leaders of integrity and purpose, and today, we proudly release such leaders,”

As the caps flew and the cameras clicked, the day marked more than just an academic milestone. It underscored KCA University’s ongoing push toward academic excellence, global relevance and meaningful societal impact.
