KDF kicks off mass recruitment exercise, urges public to report fraud

Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) has begun a mass recruitment exercise across the country.

The aspiring candidates will fill Officer Cadets, General Duty Recruits and Defense forces constabularies positions. 

In a media briefing on Monday, Vice Chief of Defence Jonah Mwangi said the force seeks to deliver a transparent and accountable recruitment exercise.

“Members of the public are advised from fraud since it violates KDF values more so the value of integrity,” Mwangi said.

“In this regard, anyone purporting to have influence to recruit a potential candidate outside the designated recruitment centers or mechanisms stated in this briefing must be avoided.”

Mwangi added that oversight measures have been put in place to prevent cases of fraud during the recruitment.

“Measures have been put in place encompassing use of intelligence operatives anti- corruption officers and the use of media,” Mwangi said.

“We request wananchi in exercise of their actual mandate to volunteer information of any suspicious activities by reporting to the recruiting teams on the ground or in the alternative call on our mobile phone numbers.”

He further added that KDF has mapped out 374 recruitment centres across 47 counties and emphasized that recruitment teams will interview candidates.

The Ministry of Defense (MOD) on the other hand has been informing and issuing warnings against fraud in recruitment.
