Kenya Methodist University (KeMU) is a Chartered Christian University, with the main campus situated in Meru and other campuses in Nairobi and Mombasa.

KeMU offers PhD, Master’s, Degree, Diploma and Certificate programs in the School of Medicine and Health Sciences, School of Education and Social Sciences, School of Science and Technology, Business School and KeMU TVET Institute.

KeMU was the first private university to graduate medical doctors in Kenya and among the few private universities to have a registered and accredited TVET Institute.

Over the years, the university has grown to be a global brand in higher education with over 37,000 alumni.

KeMU has been ranked as one of the top 100 universities in Africa. The 2023 University Ranking report by UniRanks placed the private university, founded in 1997, among the top nine universities in Kenya.

“Securing a position within the top 100 is a remarkable accomplishment, and we are especially proud to be among only nine Kenyan universities to make the list. This ranking is not just an honour; it is a call to action. We are committed to building upon this momentum and continuing to provide our students with the best possible education,” KeMU said in a statement seen by Citizen Digital.

On its website, the university says it also provides several non-academic facilities and services, online courses and distance learning opportunities, as well as administrative services.

UniRank classifies over 13,900 universities and colleges across 200 countries. Eight other Kenyan universities made it to the platform’s top 100 universities in Africa ranking.

The rankings were based on research, knowledge transfer, international outlook and teaching among other performance indicators which also included the universities’ accreditation by relevant higher education bodies in their respective countries.
