In a notice dated March 12, 2026, the authority's Director General, Luka Kimeli, said the highway will be partially closed at Globe Roundabout from Thursday, March 12, to Thursday, March 19, 2026, to allow engineers to carry out the restoration works on the bridge along the busy corridor.
The authority said several traffic diversions will be implemented during the period to ease movement and minimise congestion within the affected area.
Motorists travelling from Thika towards the Nairobi Central Business District will be required to use the Globe Overpass. Those approaching from Thika and heading towards University Way will be diverted to Prof. Wangari Maathai Road.
KeNHA further noted that motorists travelling from Thika towards Kirinyaga Road and OTC Bus Station will be required to use Ring Road.
Traffic from Kipande Road heading to the CBD will be redirected through Limuru Road at Fig Tree before joining Prof. Wangari Maathai Road.
Meanwhile, motorists travelling along University Way from the CBD and intending to make a U-turn at Globe Roundabout towards Thika will instead use the Guru Nanak U-Turn.
KeNHA said temporary traffic control measures, lane management and diversions may be introduced as technical investigations and stabilisation works continue at the site.
"Motorists are requested to exercise caution around the work areas, and follow the proposed traffic management plan below as well as cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site," KeNHA urged.
