Kenya gets first female Brigadier
The Kenya Defence Forces now has the first female Brigadier, Brigadier Fatuma Ahmed.
This is after she was promoted and appointed Managing Director Defence Forces Medical Insurance Scheme (DEFMIS).
In a statement signed by the Head of Public Communications at the Ministry of Defence Bogita Ongeri, the ministry announced changes in the department as follows:
Major General Ngewa Mukala has been posted to Defence Staff College and appointed Commandant.
Major General George Mayamba Owino has been posted to Kenya Military Academy and appointed Commandant.
Brigadier Levi Franklin Mgahlu was promoted to Major General and appointed Kenya Navy Commander.
Colonel George Odhiambo Walwa was promoted to Brigadier and appointed Chief of Operations Defence Headquarters.
Colonel Henry Noah Ofulah was promoted to Brigadier and appointed Commander Kahawa Garrison.
Colonel Patrick Muta Nderitu was promoted to Brigadier and appointed Director International Peace Support Training Centre.
Colonel Godfrey Aumah Peter was promoted to Brigadier and appointed Chief of Operations, Plans & Training (Headquarter Kenya Army).
Colonel James Magige Gitiba was promoted to Brigadier and appointed Deputy Commandant/Chief Instructor Defence Staff College.
Colonel Vincent Naisho was promoted to Brigadier and appointed Base Commandeer Mtongwe.
Colonel Martin Kizito Onyango was promoted to Brigadier and appointed Chief of Personnel (Defence Headquarters).
Colonel Daniel Kimutai Pyaban promoted to Brigadier and appointed Commander Kenya rapid Deployment Capability.
President Uhuru Kenyatta on the advice of the Defence Council Chaired by Ambassador Raychelle Omamo made the postings, promotions and appointments of the KDF officers.
