Kenya is not ready for a ‘whistling’ government – DP Ruto

Deputy President William Ruto has ridiculed the move by a section of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) members to blow whistles during President Uhuru Kenyatta’s State of the Nation address a fortnight ago.

Addressing a gathering in Ruaka, Kiambu County on Wednesday, the Deputy President said that the action by ODM legislators was ludicrous and disrespectful adding that it does not, in any way, reflect what Kenyans want.

Ruto, who had accompanied President Uhuru Kenyatta in a one-day tour of Kiambu County, noted that CORD was not fit to run the government saying the chaos witnessed at Muliro Gardens in Kakamega County during the launch of Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula’s presidential bid early April evidenced to the existence of divisions within the coalition.

In a previous stop in Gatundu, the Deputy President had called on the county residents to rally behind Jubilee as a party of choice in the 2017 elections.

“While our opponents do not know which party they are in and who their flag-bearer is, we are strongly united behind President Uhuru Kenyatta as our captain and Jubilee as our party,” said DP Ruto.

“Due to their lack of preparedness, we will not beat them by 50%+1 vote like we did in 2013, the margin will rise to 70%+1,” he said amid acclamations from the gathering.

In his address, President Kenyatta urged the residents to vote for Jubilee in 2017 and be prepared to support Ruto’s presidency in 2022.

He said Jubilee is out to unite the country adding that his government is out to initiate development projects that will improve the lives of Kenyans.

Uhuru and Ruto also thanked the residents for their apparent prayers which they said led to the collapse of their cases at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

During the tour, President Kenyatta officially inaugurated the Gatundu District Hospital into a Level-4 Hospital and opened the Kenya Medical Training College, Gatundu Campus.

The Head of State also officiated the inauguration of a Ksh 2 billion Theta water dam which will serve the residents of North and South Gatundu.

The President and his deputy were accompanied by Kiambu Governor William Kabogo, Senator Kimani Wamatangi, Women Representative Annah Nyokabi, Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu, ODM Nominated MP Isaac Mwaura among others.
