Kenya Kwanza leaders now claim there is a plot by the opposition to incite Gen Z youth to stage protests and spark chaos across the country.

Speaking at separate events held in West Pokot and Nyamira counties, the leaders said the plan is meant to derail government development projects and create unnecessary tension.

They warned that early political campaigns are escalating political temperatures in the country ahead of the next general election.

“Mtu ana duka moja kidogo, ako hapo na stock yake ya elfu mia moja. Unaleta vurugu, vijana wanakuja wananyakua yote wanaenda nayo. Insurance hailipi, so you have troubled somebody," Moses Wetang’ula, Speaker of the National Assembly, noted.

“Wale wa siasa mfululizo, ukabila na chuki mfululizo, tuwaambiaje? Shindwe! Sisi tuendelee na kazi bila break? Kazi mfululizo? Maendeleo mfululizo?" Kimani Ichung’wah, Majority Leader in Parliament, highlighted.

“Not a single individual is going to lose their lives because of you. Ile taabu tungepata hapa next week, tunawaambia shetani ashindwe," Silvanus Osoro, South Mugirango MP, pointed out.

Their remarks come amid a planned protest by Gen Z on June 25, 2025, to honour those who lost their lives during last year's anti-Finance Bill demonstrations.

The victims' families have voiced out their concerns and called for police to expedite the investigations to uncover the truth. They also demanded that politicians refrain from using the protests for political mileage.

"We ask that you do not hijack this moment. This day belongs to the families who buried their children and not political opportunists. We've seen how paid thugs are used to infiltrate peaceful protests. We will not allow them to take advantage of our grief to be manipulated for personal or political gain. Respect our pain, stand with us or stay away," Njanja Maina, an advocate, noted.

Nairobi police boss George Seda confirmed receiving official communication regarding the planned protest and revealed that the Service would provide security to all.

“Let’s restrict ourselves to what we call peaceful demonstrations. Let’s not have demonstrations which are going to interfere with other people who may not be part of the demonstrators,” Seda said on Wednesday this week.
