DP Ruto pledges to address high cost of living as he woos Machakos County
Deputy President William Ruto has pledged to address the high cost of living if he assumes power
come the August General Elections.
Speaking during a tour of Athi River and
Mlolongo in Machakos County on Wednesday, the DP promised that his Kenya Kwanza political outfit would uplift the downtrodden and create a conducive
environment for business if elected.
ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, on his part, stated:
“Tunataka tulenge uchumi ili maisha ya Wakenya iwe tofauti, tunataka ajira
zipatikane. Ingawa tunafurahishwa na mabarabara na zile bypass, madeni
yaliyochukuliwa yatakosa kuweka pesa mfukoni mwa wakenya.”
Ford Kenya party chief Moses Wetangula echoed
DP Ruto and Mudavadi saying: “As Kenya Kwanza, we stand for a united big happy
family called Kenya.”
While hitting out at their opponents in the
Azimio faction, the Kenya Kwanza leaders challenged the government to address
the ever-rising cost of living.
At the same time, they called on Machakos
residents to turn up in large numbers and grant them a decisive win come August
as they dismissed their Azimio rivals as lacking in people-centred ideas.
The DP also exuded confidence in clinching
the top seat as he rubbished claims that his team would be denied victory.
wakisema Ruto akishinda kura, ati atanyanganywa. Yaani nyinyi mkioniona, niko
na sura ya kunyanganywa kura? Hiyo ni ndoto ya mchana!” Ruto stated.
Mudavadi called for free and fair elections
as he urged their competitors to accept the outcome of elections.
“Tunataka uchaguzi wa haki na tunataka
uchaguzi ambao Wakenya wakitoa uamuzi hakuna atakaye enda kortini aseme haukuwa
wa hallali,” Mudavadi noted.
The Kenya Kwanza team is set to move Tana
River County on Thursday.
