The Kenya Kwanza coalition has unveiled its seven-member delegation to the bipartisan parliamentary dialogue with the opposition.

During a press conference at State House on Tuesday, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wa stated that the legislators were picked following discussions during an earlier Kenya Kwanza Parliamentary Group meeting.

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, Bomet Senator Hillary Sigei, Nominated Senator Essy Okenyuri, Taita Taveta Woman Representative Lydia Haika, Tharaka MP George Murugara, Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse, and Eldas MP Adan Keynan are among the nominated members.

MP Ichung'wa went on to say that they agreed with President William Ruto on the importance of governing the country according to the rule of law and cooperating with the opposition for the sake of the country.

"The parliamentary group reaffirms our commitment to the rule of law and constitutionalism and appreciates the role of the opposition to oversight and criticize this government," he said.

He also stated that the ruling coalition is committed to working with the government "on policies aimed at stabilizing our economy, lowering the cost of living, and creating jobs."

The Azimio la Umoja coalition, for their part, unveiled a seven-member team on Thursday, April 6, during a Parliamentary Group meeting in Machakos.

They are Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Makueni Senator Enock Wambua, MPs Millie Odhiambo (Suba North), Amina Mnyazi (Malindi), David Pkosing (Pokot South), and Otiende Amollo (Rarieda).

The meeting was proposed by President Ruto on April 2, when he urged opposition leader Raila Odinga to call off the anti-government protests and have dialogue talks to discuss their grievances.

Among the issues Mr.Odinga demands to be addressed is the recruitment of commissioners to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), inflated food, fuel and electricity prices in the country.
