PHOTOS: Parts of helicopter in Lake Nakuru crash found
Parts of the ill-fated chopper that crashed into Lake Nakuru on Saturday have been found as a search operation that resumed Sunday morning continues.
The wreckage was found a few kilometres from the shores of the lake.
The five occupants of the helicopter owned and operated by Flex Air Charters are yet to be located.
Those who were on board were identified as pilot Apollo Malowa, Mr Sam Gitau, Mr John Mapozi, Mr Anthony Kipyegon and a woman known as Veronicah.
Nakuru county commissioner Joshua Nkanatha said Kenya Navy divers resumed rescue operations at the Lake at exactly 6.30 am after it was suspended last evening due to poor visibility.
Speaking to Royal Media Services-owned Chamgei FM, Mr Nkatha expressed optimism that before the end of the day, the occupants and wreckage would be found.
Last evening, the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority said initial reports indicated that there were no survivors in the chopper crash in Lake Nakuru.
In a statement, the authority also clarified that the aircraft, which had five occupants; four men and one woman, is operated by Flex Air Charters further dispelling earlier claims that it belonged to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika confirmed that some of those on board were members of her communications team.
The helicopter, which had just left Jarika Hotel before it crashed, was to later ferry journalists from the hotel to a Jubilee campaign rally in Narok.
