Speaking after receiving the consignment at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Tuesday night, chairperson of the Taskforce on Covid-19 Vaccines Deployment Dr. Willis Akhwale said Kenya now has enough vaccines to meet the 10 million vaccine administration by December target.
“With this delivery, the country now has sufficient doses to meet the target set by His Excellency, President Uhuru Kenyatta to administer 10 million vaccines by the end of December 2021. Therefore, there is no reason as to why we cannot meet this target,” said Akhwale.
According to the health ministry, this brings the total number of vaccines available in the country close to 10 million doses.
Recent data released by Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe on Tuesday shows that a total of 5,691,050 vaccines had been administered across the country as of November 8, 2021.
Of these, 3,808,382 were partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated were 1,882,668.
