The Kenya Red Cross on Wednesday night rescued a man who had been stranded by rising floodwaters in the Kolati-Tula area of Tana River County.

According to a statement from the humanitarian organisation, the man made several distress calls after being trapped by flash floods caused by the ongoing heavy rains that have affected much of the country.

Rescue teams from the Kenya Red Cross responded promptly and managed to reach the victim at approximately 11:45 p.m.

He was safely evacuated and later reunited with his family, the organization confirmed.

In its statement posted on X, the Kenya Red Cross urged residents in flood-prone areas to remain vigilant and avoid crossing or wading through moving water.

“Residents are urged to stay safe, keep away from flooded areas, and avoid crossing moving waters,” the statement read.
