Kenya Scoffs At Western Nations Over Travel Advisories

In a statement issued today, Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho said the travel advisories are an unfriendly act coming from its partners.
He said it was sad that the move has been taken by nations that Kenya regard as its partners in the fight against terror.
The four nations in questions are the United States, United Kingdom, France and Australia.
The statement by the government comes just a day after the UK issued a travel advisory asking its citizens to move out of certain areas in Kenya.
The UK advisory targeting tourists visiting Kenya was issued yesterday and told its citizens to avoid the Kenyan Coast as well as other areas in Kenya.
The statement by the PS says it was disappointed that the four nations have issued the advisories in the last week yet Kenya has been co-operating with them in the war against terror.
Kibicho said ‘acts of terrorism require concerted efforts to fight it and not behaving in a manner that accelerates it by causing fear and panic’.
The statement added ‘issuance of such travel advisories only plays to the whims of bad elements in society whose aim is to spread fear and panic among peace loving people’.
The PS further assured Kenyans and friends of Kenya that security forces remained vigilant and will continue to thwart any attempts to disrupt peace.
