The Global Peace
Foundation (GPF) has appointed Daniel Juma Omondi as its new Regional
Representative for Africa, a move expected to deepen the organisation's
peacebuilding footprint across the continent.
Mr. Omondi, who
currently serves as the Kenya Country Director for GPF, assumed his expanded
role on May 1, 2025.
His appointment
was officially communicated in a circular dated May 3 from the organisation’s
Washington D.C. office, signed by GPF Senior Vice President Aya Goto.
In his new
capacity, Mr. Omondi will continue to lead the Kenyan chapter while also
overseeing the Foundation’s field affiliates and initiatives across Africa.
“I extend my
heartfelt gratitude to the Global Peace Foundation Chairman, Dr. Hyun Jin
Preston, and President Jim Flynn for their trust in me for this vital role,”
said Mr. Omondi, acknowledging his promotion.
He termed the
appointment a privilege and pledged to work collaboratively with the GPF team
in advancing the organisation’s mission on the continent.
Mr. Omondi noted
that his focus will include working closely with African governments, civil
societies, multilateral organisations and religious leaders “to elevate the
organisation's values-based peacebuilding in the continent.”
The newly
appointed regional head is already gearing up for one of his first major events
in office—the 2nd Annual Family Festival, scheduled for May 15, 2025, at the
Kololo Independence Grounds in Uganda.
Organised in
collaboration with the Government of Uganda, the event will centre on the
theme: ‘United as One Family under God for Socio-economic Transformation and
Achievement of the African Renaissance.’
Mr. Omondi’s
appointment comes just days after he was named among the top 50 CEOs in Kenya
by Africapitol, further cementing his growing influence in leadership and
governance circles.
