Kenyatta Addresses American Conference via Video Link

Kenyatta called on American investors to ignore negative information being spread about Africa and invest in the continent, especially Kenya.

“I invite you to engage them, and see how we can work together. This conference is a superb opportunity to replace the older, darker view with a more accurate picture on Africa,” the President said.

According to Kenyatta, Africa provides huge investment and trade opportunities and has asked America businesses to see better ways of working together with Kenya.

Kenyatta also said the country seeks partnerships in ICT, agriculture, energy, financial services and manufacturing, adding that Kenya has invested heavily in infrastructure.

Milken Institute Global Conference brings together leaders and entrepreneurs, with Rwandese President Paul Kagame being among key speakers.

Kenyatta’s trip was cancelled at the last minute on Thursday night following what State House referred to as “increased military activities in Yemen".

Kenyatta’s plane was re-routed to Nairobi on insecurity fears in Yemen for it was scheduled to overfly the Yemen airspace en-route to Dubai where the President had been scheduled to take an Emirates commercial flight to the United States.
