Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot has issued a seven-day ultimatum to bar owners operating near schools to shut down the businesses.
Cheruiyot said the law was clear on the same, adding that any operator who would not have heeded his warning will have himself to blame.
He said if the ultimatum lapses without any action, he will mobilise members of the public to bring down the same.
Cheruiyot revealed that the bars were not only selling alcohol to pupils but also hard drugs including bhang.
The senator at the same time asked the provincial administration officers to tighten the noose on all illicit and killer second generation alcoholic drinks which had rendered many men zombies.
He said many youth have indulged in alcoholism and rendered them unproductive thus slowing down development in the society.
The Senate Majority Leader took a swipe at the judiciary for freeing the dealer who sold the killer brew which claimed the lives of 10 people in Kirinyaga and blinded others for giving lenient punishment to him.
He said such actions call for Judicial reforms which the president has been advocating for.
Cheruiyot said some decisions which the courts were making end up hurting Kenyans.
