Kethi Kilonzo’s voter’s card theft case temporarily halted

A Nairobi Magistrates Court has temporarily suspended the hearing of voter card stealing case facing High Court advocate, Kethi Kilonzo.

This was after the Court of Appeal upheld the trial, pending hearing and determination of a petition against her.

Kethi was charged alongside Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) official Godfrey Ninito.

Charges read that on diverse dates between November 19, 2012 and June 27, 2013 in Nairobi, the accused, jointly with others not before court, stole voter acknowledgement slips valued at 5 shillings, belonging to the IEBC.

Appearing before Chief Magistrate, Daniel Ogembo, the two were released on 100,000 shillings cash bail after denying the charges.

The case will be mentioned on 18th October to asses the progress of the appeal court matter.
