A section of Kiambu leaders now insist that the Finance Bill 2023 will sail through parliament, no matter the hostility the opposition team has accorded it.

The legislators, led by Juja MP George Koimburi upheld that parliamentarians allied to Kenya Kwanza would pass the Bill, as the government of the day must always win.

The MP said the controversial bill contained key solutions to economic challenges facing the country and as such, lawmakers should endeavour to pass it for the greater good of Kenyans.

Among other things, Koimburi said the government will, by way of collecting more taxes as captured in the proposed Bill, be able to complete stalled development projects and or begin construction of currently impassable roads to open up the country for investment.

In the controversial Bill, the government has outlined new tax measures that it hopes will help increase its revenue streams to fund its spending plan.

Koimburi’s sentiments were echoed by Gatundu North MP Elijah Njoroge Kururia who insisted that for the country’s economy to stabilize, Kenyans must be ready to pay more taxes.

Kururia noted that through increased levies, the government will be able to institute development projects that are so much required to boost investment and ultimately enhance the creation of jobs for the unemployed.

He singled out the need for the government to tarmac currently impassable roads and enhance electricity connectivity and water supply for all Kenyans, endeavours that require money to implement.

On her side, Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a said the Finance Bill 2023 will cure joblessness in the country through the massive housing projects that the government hopes to start across the country.

Ng’ang’a noted that while most Kenyans are jobless, the luckily employed ones should graciously agree to give back three per cent of their monthly income to create more jobs for the unemployed.

While urging other parliamentarians to support the Bill, Ng’ang’a said the proposals made will further help the country clear huge debts that former governments sought overseas.
