Kikuyu council of elders yet to decide who to support in 2022

The Kikuyu council of elders have distanced themselves from ongoing political debate on who the community will back after the exit of President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2020.
Speaking during prayers at Kabiruini Grounds, council chairman Wachira Kiago said that the community elders are consulting and have no pact with any of the leaders seeking the top seat.
He said there must be peaceful transition from the current president to the next.
Led by Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, they called for political tolerance saying that it is still premature for the debate on who the community should support come 2022 polls.
They reiterated the need to maintain peace and urged leaders to avoid utterances that will create division.
