Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa announces 4-month break from ‘Tangatanga’

Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa has announced a sabbatical from ‘Tangatanga” a political faction allied to Deputy President William Ruto.

During a press briefing at his Nasianda home on Sunday, the MP said he was going to take a 4-month sabbatical to ruminate on the political situation in the country.

He also said the break will allow him to focus his energies on the development projects in Kimilili.

At the same time, the legislator said he would use the break to play the role of the Western region’s arbiter with the aim of bringing the different factions that consist of Musalia Mudavadi, Mukhisa Kituyi and Moses Wetangula together ahead of the 2022 General Election.

According to the legislator, the region stands to lose unless the leaders speak in one voice and take their place at Kenya’s political table.

The latest comes against a backdrop of differences between Mukhisa Kituyi and Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetangula playing out in the public.

According to Wetangula, the former Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) does not stand a chance at being president unless he joins the Mudavadi-Wetangula duo.

Dr. Mukhisa, Wetangula and Mudavadi have all announced interest in the country’s top job.
