The Jubilee Party faction that is led by former Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni has now threatened to impeach President William Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua should the Kenya Kwanza government continue to overburden Kenyans with taxes, especially in the wake of high-cost of living.

The party officials insisted they will not back down from seeking to have the government deliver its promises to Kenyans, failure to which they will petition for the dethronement of the president and his deputy committed to accord Kenyans a ‘soft life’ before they ascended to the presidency.

Speaking after crisscrossing various parts of Kiambu County among them Thika, Gatundu North, Gatundu South, Juja and Ruiru constituencies where they sensitized Kenyans on their rights, the officials led by Kioni decried the high cost of living that they blamed on the incessant increase in taxes by the government.

“We want our people to know that if this government is not serving us, we can also be able to bring it to an end before the end of the five years that they think they have to serve," he said.

"It is not mandatory that you must remain in State House for 5 years. We can make your stay shorter if you are not useful to Kenyans."

While calling for a stoppage in tax increment, Kioni lamented that most Kenyans can no longer afford to buy basic food items such as cooking flour and sugar whose prices have skyrocketed in the past few months.

They took issue with the government for lying to Kenyans that their lives would change for the better only to harass them with unending taxes after taking over the country’s leadership.

“The cost of living is unbearable. The taxation measures put in place through the Finance Bill are going to cripple most of the businesses in Mt Kenya.  This bill is just going to make it worse,” he said.

At the same time, Kioni and his team opposed the newly announced Finance Year 2023/2024 budget by the government saying that its proposals only seek to impoverish the downtrodden Kenyans with more tax burdens.

“Mt Kenya has been used by this government to ruin other parts of the country; it has been used to make it look like it is popular. If 93 per cent of Kenyans reject a bill what business do you have in passing it?” He posed.

Meanwhile, Kioni further castigated the government for continuously attacking Jubilee Party by reportedly 'buying' all Jubilee MPs insisting that the infights within Jubilee are not between him and EALA MP Kanini Kega but notable government officials out to silence and possibly kill the party.

“The attacks against Jubilee are attacks by the government without doubt; they are being funded and sustained by the government," he claimed.

As a result, Kioni vowed to continue agitating and fighting enemies of the Jubilee Party revealing plans to continually conduct meetings across the country alongside new members’ registration to ensure Jubilee remains strong for posterity.

“We will not relent. The party is owned by the people and you will not do anything about it. We will not allow Jubilee to be taken over by people sponsored by others,” he noted.
