Kiraitu was nominated to the position by Chief Justice Martha Koome.

Kiraitu Murungi lost his Governor seat to independent candidate Kawira Mwangaza who amassed 209,148 votes in the polls against Kiraitu’s 110,814 votes to dethrone the one-time governor.

KLRC's mandate is to review all the laws of Kenya to ensure that it is modernized, relevant and harmonized in accordance with the law.
