In a statement on Sunday, the family said that despite the green light from the court to evict the estate's occupants, they are not willing to undertake the ousting liberty and have instead resorted to having mutual agreements to settle the matter.
The family noted that they are willing to sell the land to the current occupants on a willing-buyer, willing-seller arrangement to help them acquire legitimate title deeds.
To ensure a seamless execution of the aforesaid process, the family says that they have surveyed the parcels of land in focus and mapped all the plots and also established the value of each plot based on the size and location.
They have also profiled all the occupants on a plot-to-plot basis, prepared offers for each individual on the land, and provided details of the lawyers undertaking the conveyancing and banking details in the letters of offer.
So far, the family says that a couple of occupants have already paid for the parcels of land they occupy and others have expressed commitment to take up their offer.
"As a family we are indeed sympathetic to the anguish suffered by unfortunate Kenyans duped into buying the plots of land in Njiru from unscrupulous and merciless swindlers," read the family's statement in part.
The massive estate of the late tycoon Gerishon Kirima, who passed on in 2010, has been at the heart of a long protracted court battle between the administrators and residents who acquired the property through self-help groups.
In October 2023, the Environment and Land Court ordered the occupants out of the property and it declared December 31, 2023, the deadline for the affected persons to vacate or be evicted from the property.
On November 21 Lands Cabinet Secretary (CS) Alice Wahome said the government will not be involved in the land dispute pitting the Kirima family and Njiru residents.
