Speaking when he visited Mwea West sub-county, Central Regional Commissioner Joshua Nkanatha said he's unaware of the delay and will investigate.
"I'm not aware of the matter, but the Interior Cabinet Secretary had said they would be reinstated. I will look into it," Nkanatha said.
Mutithi Location Chief Weston Muthike was reinstated, but Kianjogu sub-location assistant chief Peter Nyaga, who is his assistant, was not reinstated. Residents are now raising concerns over the gaps in public services since the administrator's office remains vacant.
The interdiction followed an order by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on February 17, 2024, during the burial service of 17 people who died after consuming deadly alcohol at Kangai and Mutithi wards. Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen would later, in August 2025, order the reinstatement of the administrators when he visited Kerugoya.
Nkanatha also warned parents to enrol their children in Grade 10 or face legal action, enforcing 100% transition.
"We are warning parents of possible action if they fail to present their children for admission into grade 10," Nkanatha said.
