Kirinyaga: Man killed, body dumped in river

Police recovered the body at Wanyiba waterfall after two boys, who discovered it, notified the area's assistant chief.

Police suspect that the man was murdered elsewhere before his lifeless body was discarded at the said waterfall.

Confirming the incident, Muthigi Assistant Chief Christine Muthoni Macharia told Citizen Digital that after locals retrieved the man's body from the river, police found identification documents on his person.

"The man hails from Ndimi sub-location in Inoi location, Kirinyaga Central constituency according to the documents that were found on him," Gathoni said.

Mwea West sub-county Police Commander Mbatian Kantai added that police have since launched investigations into the incident.

The body of the deceased has been moved to Kerugoya County Referral Hospital for storage pending post-mortem.
