Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) Director Norman Kiogora has commended the institute’s initiatives in supporting disability inclusion and rehabilitation services, following a meeting with the Chief of Defence Forces, General Charles Kahariri, on Friday morning.

During his courtesy call at the Department of Defence Headquarters in Nairobi, Dr Kiogora highlighted KISE’s milestones in working with defence institutions, including rehabilitation support for officers living with disabilities and enhancing learning facilities for learners with special needs.

“We are proud of the progress KISE has made in contributing to national inclusion efforts, particularly in partnership with defence institutions,” Kiogora said.

General Kahariri, in turn, praised KISE’s work, affirming the Kenya Defence Forces’ (KDF) commitment to expanding collaboration with the institute.

He noted KDF’s readiness to explore further technical linkages and strategic partnerships aimed at improving services for personnel with special needs and their families.

Their engagement focused on strengthening collaboration between KISE and KDF in areas of special needs education, rehabilitation, and disability inclusion.

The two leaders agreed to develop a comprehensive proposal to guide the next phase of cooperation, in line with national efforts to promote inclusivity and improved quality of life for persons with special needs.
