Police in Kisii County are seeking to detain seven teachers who were arrested on Wednesday over an online viral video capturing pupils being exposed to an indecent act that happened at Itumbe DOK Primary School in Nyamache.

In the video, the young boys in school uniform are compelled by their teachers to commit an indecent act while lying on top of each other as the teachers watched in laughter.

Speaking on Thursday, Nyamache OCPD Kipkulei Kipkemboi said that they need to detain the teachers for seven more days to complete investigations into the appalling incident.

"We managed to present them before the law courts for the purpose of requesting for 7 more days to detain them as we continue to do investigations," said Kipkemoi.

According to OCPD Kipkemboi, six teachers were first apprehended then the seventh one was separately apprehended after further interrogation.

The six were Everline Moraa, Gladys Kenyanya, Angelina Joseph, Moraa Nyairo, Cathrine Mokaya and William Isoka. They were arrested after Ministry of Education officials in the county led by Nyamache Sub-County Director Linet Onduso visited the school after receiving the clip.

Obadiah Makaya was arrested late evening after Angelina Joseph confessed that she shared the video to him.

Meanwhile, the minors, whom OCPD Kipkemboi confirmed are grade-2 pupils, are currently recording statements with the police.
