Kisumu cop charged with committing indecent acts with minor

A Kisumu cop who was arrested on suspected sodomy allegations was arraigned in court on Tuesday.

Nelson Cheruiyot was charged with committing indecent acts and defilement with a 15-year-old contrary to section 8(1)(2) of the Sexual Offences Act of 2006.

The court heard that on the night of December 25 and 26, 2020 at Shauri Moyo, the accused intentionally caused penetration on the minor.

Appearing before Senior Resident Magistrate Fatuma Rashid, the officer pleaded not guilty.

He was released on a bond of Ksh. 200,000.

The case will be mentioned on January 21, 2021 while the hearing is slated for April 1.
