Kisumu: Investigations after man shot dead in suspected robbery attempt

A middle-aged man was shot dead on Wednesday night in Mamboleo area, Kisumu East sub-county, after suspected thugs on a motorbike opened fire during an attempted robbery at an M-Pesa outlet, residents said.
Witnesses said the man had gone to the outlet to make a deposit when the attackers struck.
The suspects, who were reportedly targeting the outlet, allegedly fired several shots, hitting the victim in the head and killing him on the spot as people nearby ran for safety.
The assailants then sped off towards the Miwani area, locals said.
Police officers later arrived at the scene and took the body away as investigations into the shooting were launched.
