Kisumu woman accused of burning 12-year-old son over Ksh.150 theft

The minor, who had 90% burn injuries following the incident at Nyamgun area lost his life on Tuesday while undergoing treatment at Kombewa sub-county hospital where he had been admitted.

The suspect, Jacinter Akinyi, is reported to have poured kerosene on her son before setting him ablaze during the incident.

Police say the son was rescued by neighbors who rushed him to hospital. He sustained serious burn wounds in his upper body, hands and groin.

Police who visited the scene recovered a partially burnt shirt worn by the deceased during the incident. The 47 year old mother to the victim has been locked up and will be arraigned in court.
