Trans Nzoia detectives are looking into the death of a middle-aged man who is said to have stripped naked before jumping from the third floor of a building in the county's Benam area
According to a neighbor who claims to have witnessed the events leading up to the tragedy, Ernest Wafula spent much of Saturday at home.
She claims they even ate dinner together, along with Wafula's girlfriend.
She said things took a dramatic turn shortly after dinner when Wafula excused himself to go to bed only to return to the living room naked.
"Tulikula supper halafu tukiwa tumetulia akasema yeye anaenda kulala anaskia amechoka, sasa yeye kufika bedroom akatoa nguo zote halafu akakuja akaita mrembo wake... sasa yule akashtuka akapiga nduru," a witness to the incident told Citizen.Digital.
Wafula is said to have stormed out of his house and onto an adjacent building, where he attempted to jump off the first floor but was thwarted by wire grills.
"Alikuja akapita hadi first floor akitaka kuruka, akazuiwa na wires, halafu akapanda akaruka kutoka third-floor hadi huko chini," she added.
He is then said to have dashed off to the third floor, where he jumped, crashing through the roof of a building two storeys below.
According to Benamu Education Centre director Nelson Barasa, the deceased crashed through the tin roof into his office, where he was pronounced dead.
"Sasa wakari aliruka kutoka juu, aka-land directly kwa ofisi yangu, in fact alipita hadi kwa mabati, bahati mbaya akaaga duniani,"
His body was moved to the Kitale County Referral Hospital mortuary pending an autopsy. Investigations into the matter are underway.
