Kitui: 11 people killed in a road crash on their way home from a 'Ruracio'

Eleven people were killed on Saturday after a 14-seater Matatu, which witnesses say was overloaded, veered off the road and rolled near the Kanyonyo junction in Kitui.
Kanyonyoo sub-location assistant chief Jacob Mueti confirmed the 11pm accident, sayng the matatu was ferrying people who were coming from a dowry negotiation ceremony in Mwingi.
He said the matatu lost control as it attempted to overtake another vehicle.
The bodies of those who succumbed were moved to the Kitui Level 4 Hospital Mortuary.
At the same time, several passengers who sustained injuries are receiving treatment at the same facility as well as Matuu Level 4 Hospital in Machakos, and the Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi.
