Speaking at KNUT head offices, KNUT Secretary General Wilson Sossion says the ministry should have consulted widely before issuing the directive.

Sossion said that doing away with ranking risks placing the country among failed states in terms of education.

Last week, the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) and the Ministry of Education announced the scrapping of ranking schools and candidates to end cases of cheating during national exams.

Sossion has challenged the government to deal with exam cheating instead of scrapping schools and students ranking.
