KRA to launch TV station on Monday

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced plans to launch a web-based television station on Monday, October 3.

The objective of KRA TV will be to augment tax literacy and compliance in the country by broadcasting abridged duty and customs content.

According to the Taxman, the TV station launch will coincide with KRA's annual Taxpayer's month which recognises compliant taxpayers in the country.

The annual event, first introduced in 2021, will culminate in an award ceremony to laud distinguished taxpayers.

"The “KRA TV” platform will be hosted on KRA website and drive a demand-based viewership. The station will host customized tax content that the public may consume at their convenience," said KRA Communication Deputy Commissioner Grace Wandera in a statement on Friday.

"The key features on the TV will include Scheduled live programming of tax awareness activities like Tax Talks, Tax Thursdays, Stori za Ushuru and other education programs. It will also air a wide range of simplified and downloadable content for various taxpayer categories among the many other programs."

During the month, KRA will also engage in various activities aimed at honoring and appreciating taxpayers.

The activities include; taxpayer appreciation engagements, taxpayer education, tax summit event, and Corporate Social Investment (CSI) activities.

"KRA encourage the public to participate in the Taxpayers’ Month activities as an act of patriotism. Through their participation, taxpayers will have an opportunity to give feedback on various tax issues that will enable the Authority to enhance service delivery and create a more conducive environment for compliance," said Wandera.
