Kuria to know fate of hate speech case in December

Gatundu MP Moses Kuria is set to know  fate of his hate speech case on December 9 this year when the court delivers its judgment.

The lawmaker denied any wrongdoing, telling the court that he has several Facebook accounts and has on several occasions been forced to close down some of them because they are created by impostors.

Mr Kuria is accused of linking the Luo community to a terror attack that was carried out on May 16, 2014 in Gikomba market, Nairobi.

“Your honor, I’ve spent money trying to track these people opening fake accounts using my name,” the Jubilee MP submitted.

However, the prosecution led by State counsel Duncan Ondimu told the court that the Facebook account in question belonged to Moses Kuria, adding that it has established a case against him and thus he should be convicted.

Nairobi principal magistrate Teresa Nyangene said the legislator had a case to answer and would make her ruling on December 9.
