Primary school teacher attacks wife with a hammer before stabbing her
Police officers in Kwale County have launched a manhunt for a man who is said to have
attacked his wife with a hammer and
stabbed her using a knife.
James Kimeu, 35, a
teacher at Menzamwenye Primary
School hit his
29-year-old wife Caren Namubuya on the head with a hammer several times, before stabbing her in
the chest on Wednesday night.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations
(DCI), the two who had separated had agreed to meet at Kimeu's house to mend
their relationship when Kimeu, in a turn of events, locked the door and charged
at Nambuya.
"Preliminary
investigations indicate that the two had separated before the attacker James
Kimeu, 35, invited Namubuya to his house in a bid to reconcile. However, Kimeu
locked the main door with a padlock and turned on her savagely, with a kitchen
knife and a hammer," wrote DCI.
Neighbours who heard the commotion forcefully
gained entry into the house and found Nambuya lying on the floor in a pool of
blood.
She was rushed to Lunga
Lunga Sub-County hospital where she is receiving medical attention.
Kimeu however went into
hiding shortly after, and is being sought for by police.
