Lands CS Charity Ngilu steps aside over graft allegations

 

Ms Ngilu has been replaced by Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i in acting capacity.

President Uhuru Kenyatta, during his state of the nation address on Thursday, directed that all officials of the county and national governments who have been named in the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission report on graft step down pending investigations.

ACTING OFFICERS

The Head of State further instructed State Corporation Boards to urgently convene Special Board Meetings, to appoint acting officers for all named chief executives and other officers.

The first cabinet secretary (CS) to step aside following the directive was Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Felix Koskei who stepped down on Saturday.

So far the Secretary to the Cabinet Francis Kimemia, Labour CS Kazungu Kambi, Transport and infrastructure CS Eng Michael Kamau, Transport PS Nduva Muli and Energy and Petroleum CS Davis Chirchir have resigned following the directive.
