Nairobi lawyer Philip Murgor has withdrawn his candidature for the presidency in the August 8 polls citing the electoral commission’s ineffectiveness in controlling the conduct of other candidates in the race.
Murgor blamed IEBC for allowing candidates to engage in early campaigns against the provisions of law.
The former director of public prosecutions abandoned his presidential ambitions barely four months after he was unveiled as the United Democratic Movement (UDM) candidate.
Murgor entered the race with much enthusiasm and billed himself a credible alternative candidate who would end tribalism, corruption, and inequality.
He had allied himself to the opposition’s NASA coalition in which he had promised to work with founders; Raila Odinga (ODM), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Moses Wetangula (Ford-Kenya) and Musalia Mudavadi to dislodge Jubilee Party from power.
