Lawyer who went missing after attempting to stop Mark Too’s burial found

Eldoret-based lawyer Simon Lilan, who went missing on January 9, was on Friday found unharmed at a house in Nairobi, his brother John Talam confirms.

Lilan’s legal representative said Lilan phoned him Friday noon after reporting to an agency for human rights based in the capital.

Simon Lilan had moved to court seeking to stop the burial of former nominated Member of Parliament, Mark Too which was slated for Monday, January 9.

Lilan wanted an independent post mortem conducted to know what killed Too, claiming the death of the late politician was political.

Talam said Lilan had reported to the family that his life was in danger since some unknown people had asked to meet him.

The family had reported his disappearance at an Eldoret police station under OB No. 120/9/1/2017.

Additional reporting by Cyrus Sholim in Uasin Gishu County
