LSK Files Petition For Appointment Of 14 Judges

Through Senior Counsel Nzamba Kitonga, LSK termed the refusal to appoint the 14 unconstitutional adding that the President has no mandate to approve or disapprove names submitted by the Judicial Service Commission.

The legal body now wants the court to compel the head of state to immediately appoint and swear in the judges as submitted by JSC in January to serve in the High Court.

The judges are Riechi Stephen, Sewe Olga, Winfrida Adhiambo, Patrick Okwaro, Robert Kipkoech, Anthony Kimani, Mugure Thande, Margaret Njoki, Githinji Stephen, Dorah Chepkwony, Ongeri Asante, Waweru Kiarie, Njuguna Lucy and Mativo Muting’a.

The 14 judges were left out as 12 of their colleagues were sworn in with the president saying the suitability of the rest was still being considered.
