LSK President Gichuhi dismisses claims Cliff Ombeta is not licensed
The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Allen Gichuhi has now dismissed reports that Cliff Ombeta is not licensed to practice as a lawyer.
This comes hours after a section of lawyers, during a Thursday court session, insisted that LSK had withdrawn the practicing certificate of the controversial city lawyer.
Speaking in court during the murder trial of slain lawyer Willy Kimani, the lawyers stated that Ombeta does not have enough points hence is unqualified to be before court.
Mr. Gichuhi has however since said that Ombeta has a valid practicing license.
Lawyer Ombeta was two weeks ago ordered to get another advocate to represent three accused persons in the Willy Kimani murder case after he failed to appear in court to represent them.
On July 12, 2019, an irate Ombeta told off the Prosecution after they accused him of not being forthright about his reported illness.
In dramatic fashion, the advocate, who was dressed in a hat and black sweatpants faced off with the Prosecution expressing his outrage over their demands to have his records investigated.
Ombeta has in the recent past been in the limelight for his high level cases among them the murder case against controversial televangelist James Ng’ang’a of Neno Evangelism and the case against drug barons the Akasha brothers who have since been extradited to the US among others.
