Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga, together with Kiambu leaders led by Kabete parliamentary aspirant James Wanjohi, has called on Mt Kenya leaders and residents to remain united and speak with one political voice.

Speaking at Njenga’s Kitengela home during the burial preparations of Njenga's father, the late Stephen Kamunya, who died at the age of 101, the leaders emphasised the need for cohesion, calm and issue-based politics as the country moves forward.

They said the event would serve as a powerful declaration of unity for the region, urging leaders and residents to put aside their differences for the sake of peace and collective political direction.

Njenga was hosted by a delegation drawn from all wards of Kabete Constituency in preparation for the burial in Laikipia, slated for December 31.

At least 26 buses have been organised by Wanjohi to ferry Njenga’s supporters, with more supporters urged to turn up in large numbers to give Kamunya a dignified send-off.

“We have come as leaders from all regions in Kiambu. Let us all stand together as Mt Kenya leaders to support the chairman during the burial of his father on December 31," said Wanjohi.

“A lot of things are happening during this festive season, and I urge all leaders and people from this region to stand together so that we can move forward as one,” one of the leaders said.

The leaders reiterated that the gathering would not only be about paying last respects, but also a moment for Mt Kenya to demonstrate unity, peace and a shared political voice.
