Maji Moto group ranch officials warn illegal settlers of looming evictions

The group ranch chairman James Twala said all persons that acquired land in the area legally will not be changed, however, those who bought land through dubious means, their title deeds will be revoked.
Twala said the Environment and Lands Court sitting in Narok ruled that the land be acquired by the legit people.
He said they will not be cowed by the former leadership that gave out land illegally, who are threatening to involve senior government officials so that their title deeds will not be revoked.
He called on the department of land to adhere to the court ruling and revoke all the title deeds that were issued illegally.
Mzee Martiko Ole Sadera, a member of the group ranch, blamed the former leadership for issuing out land to non-members illegally without consulting the group members.
Ole Sadera, who is also a member of the Maasai Council of elders said they will go as per the court ruling that directed all title deeds that were issued illegally to be rebuke.
The land under contention is 120 acres of land that the court ruled was illegally acquired.
