Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana dismisses his deputy Adelina Mwau's move to UDA
Makueni Governor
Prof. Kivutha Kibwana has dismissed a move by his deputy governor Adelina
Mwau to join Deputy President
William Ruto’s UDA party.
Ms. Mwau
was welcomed to the DP’s political camp on Tuesday morning at Ruto's official residence in Karen.
“The Hustler Nation is growing bigger and bigger. This morning we welcome Adelina Mwau, the Deputy Governor of Makueni County, to UDA. Karibu Mama,” said Ruto in a tweet.
Governor
Kivutha Kibwana, in a statement issued on Tuesday, termed the move by his
deputy as “clandestine dealings”, adding that the decision would jeopardise their
working relationship.
“My
attention has been drawn to clandestine dealings between Adelina Mwau (deputy
governor Makueni County) and United Democratic Alliance. She had even pledged
to take with her a huge delegation of our common political friends to UDA, who
declined her overtures,” said
Kibwana.
He added: “While
I respect Adelina for the good working relations for the last 9 years, her
latest move puts our working together on the edge. The voice of the people of
Makueni has always been our guide in decision making. I will not abandon that
principle for political expediency. ADELINA will walk alone.”
The Governor
reiterated that the people of Makueni County are in support of the Azimio La
Umoja movement led by ODM leader Raila Odinga.
