Man accused of sodomizing Chief's son 5 years ago arrested in Murang'a

According to detectives from Gichugu, James Kamau Gachoki was arrested in Karigo-ini village in Murang'a County, where he had been hiding.

Senior Chief Njukiini North location Chief stated that the suspect was apprehended following an order from Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kipchumba Murkomen.

"I am happy the suspect was arrested after I sought help from CS Murkomen during the Jukwaa la usalama forum last month at Kerugoya. We are heading to Kianyaga police station with my son," Dickson Kathuri Mugo said.

During the Jukwaa la Usalama forum, Chief Mugo urged CS Murkomen to intervene in the case of defilement involving his son.

He intimated he had been seeking justice for his son, who was sodomized five years ago, but the delayed police action has denied him justice.

"My son was sodomized by a well-known person in 2020, but police from Kianyaga and Kiamutugu have been giving never-ending promises of arresting the suspect," he said.

CS Murkomen then ordered a probe, promising that the victim would get justice. The chief said his wife fled their homestead and left him with his son, who is now 18 years old.

The suspect will now remain in custody pending arraignment.
