Police in Kondele are holding a 48 year old man accused of fatally stabbing another man during an altercation at the Kondele roundabout over the weekend.

The suspect, identified as Wycliffe Kipsari, was arrested in Vihiga County following a manhunt by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

According to a police report, the incident occurred on Saturday morning after the deceased allegedly struck the suspect’s Toyota Probox as he was driving along the Kondele route. Investigators say the minor traffic incident escalated into a disagreement.

Police allege that the suspect, angered by the encounter, alighted from his vehicle armed with a machete and stabbed the victim, inflicting fatal injuries.

He is said to have driven away immediately after the attack, leaving the man bleeding at the scene.

The victim was pronounced dead shortly after.

DCI officers say they positively identified the suspect through multiple eyewitness accounts that placed him at the scene of the incident. He was arrested on Sunday evening.

The vehicle allegedly used during the incident, a Toyota Probox registration number KCX 622Y, has been impounded and towed to Kondele Police Station as part of the ongoing investigations.

The suspect remains in custody and is expected to be arraigned in court to face murder charges.
