Man beaten by residents over father’s stolen sheep in Machakos

A man accused of livestock theft in Mbingoni village, Masinga, Machakos County was on Sunday caught with a stolen sheep, beaten by area residents and handed over to police.

The locals, who complain that livestock theft is getting rampant in the area, say the sheep belonged to the suspect’s father.

“He has been threatening to kill me and has troubled the village for some time now. Residents caught him and beat him and now it is up to the police to deal with him. I have given up on him,” the father said.

The suspect was taken to Kithyoko police station with injuries.
