Man beaten to death after stealing TV set in Kisumu

A suspected robber who reportedly broke into a house and stole a television set was on Tuesday evening killed by an angry mob in Kibos area, Kisumu East sub-county.

The unidentified male, eyewitnesses say, forced himself into a woman's house near Kasule area before making off with a 24-inch M-Kopa solar television set.

He was however noticed by members of the public who began trailing him.

Police say that the suspect, upon realising that he was being chased, dropped the television set and attempted to flee but his efforts proved futile as the irate members of the public caught up to him before subjecting him to mob justice.

The officers arrived at the scene and rushed the severely injured suspect to the Jaramogi Odinga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers based at Kasagam Police Station visited and processed the scene and thereafter filed an inquest into the incident.
