A man was  on Thursday presented in court for obtaining Ksh.25.7 million by falsely pretending he was in a position to sell 250 kilograms of gold.

Jonathan Okoth Opande, is alleged to have presented himself as a businessman and conned Samuel Olaleye in exchange for 250 kilograms of gold.

This is said to have happened at Lagos hotel in Nairobi between January 19 and February 18, 2019, where he presented a gold trading company to the complainant claiming to be one of the directors.

The 32-year-old man was charged alongside Steve Ochieng who is currently at large with an arrest warrant issued against him.

Okoth denied the charges read out to him before Magistrate Kennedy Cheruyot at Milimani Law courts.

He was released on a cash bail of Ksh.100,000 and directed to surrender his passport to the court.

The case will be heard on September 17, 2019.
