Man commits suicide after losing Sh9,000 in gambling

A 31-year-old man has reportedly committed suicide after losing Sh9000 in a pool game at Bondo area in Suna West Sub County, Migori County.

The body of the deceased was retrieved from Nyamome dam on Monday after he was reported missing two days ago.

The father to the deceased, Peter Oganda, said that he suspects that his son, Kennedy Okinyi, committed suicide following the devastating occurrences at a pool game on Friday.

Oganda said the deceased left home Saturday morning last week telling the wife that he was going to Migori to collect some money from a debtor but he did not return home.

He said the search for the body came after his clothes were found near Nyamome Dam that Saturday by locals who had gone to fetch water for domestic use.

It’s reported that a cousin to the deceased also died in the same dam several years back, an occurrence which is peculiar taking into consideration that the deceased hails from Bondo village which is several kilometers away from the dam.

Wasweta II sub location chief, Mrs Millicent Atieno Tinga, confirmed the incident saying that they are going on with investigations.
